World is warming fast

Scientists have confirmed that last ten years (from 1997 till now) were the warmest since records began in 1850, all because of excessive greenhouse gas emissions that caused global warming. The warmest year was in 2005, was an average of 14.76C. This year's average global temperature of 14.3C was 0.31C above the 1961-90 average. As dr. Peter Stott from the Met Office said: "Human influence, particularly emission of greenhouse gases, has greatly increased the chance of having such warm years. Comparing observations with the expected response to man-made and natural drivers of climate change it is shown that global temperature is now more than 0.7 degrees centigrade warmer than if humans were not altering the climate."

If this increase in global temperature continues very soon sea level rise will become threat to many countries, and weather would become highly unpredictable with frequent floods, storms and droughts that will threaten lives of hundreds of million of people worldwide. World is really warming fast and we still have not made necessary steps to stop this negative rise in temperature. Greenhouse gas emissions are still rising and world has yet to make some effective international agreement that would oblige countries to reduce their emissions. There has certainly been plenty of talk about the necessity to fight climate change as soon as possible but unfortunately words have not been followed by appropriate action because many think we have all the time in the world. Get real people, global warming has already began.
